Mr Orange To Open 100 Kiosks By The End Of 2005
With the average juice consumption in India amounting to one glass per person per year Mr Orange Juicing Systems Pvt Ltd launched its orange juice kiosks across the country at the end of 2004, to tap this segment.
The company has now launched 20 new outlets with an investment of Rs 20 crore and has charted out an expansion plan via which it is planning to open 100 additional outlets by the end of 2005. The company will take the franchise route for these new kiosks and will invest a total of 10 crore into a host of expansion exercises.
In an exclusive to Express Hotelier & Caterer, GS Matta, director, Mr Orange Juicing Systems Pvt Ltd said, “Right now the market has various packaged juice options but the concept of fresh juice kiosks is fairly new to the country. After conducting a significant amount of research, we selected and imported this equipment from Spain.”
The company is also planning to start a home delivery system from seven am to 10 am in the mornings, as juices are generally considered to be breakfast drinks. Ninety per cent of the juice sold in the market is orange juice. Interestingly besides being a major source of vitamin C oranges are cheap and easily available in India throughout the year.
The company has plans to install these kiosks at railway stations, airports, hospitals, MNCs and visible tourist spots in the near future. While talking about its USP, Matta said, “It is 100 per cent hygienic as the oranges are unpeeled and untouched by hand. The system ensures that the juice will not spoil for 24 hours and retains its vitamin C levels, which is not the case contrary to packaged juice.” Another benefit of the fresh juice concept is simply that it is good for health. The company is targeting children and young working people initially and will start its awareness campaign through roadshows in schools soon.
