Airline boarding passes from Holiday Inn kiosks
Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts has recently begun testing a full-service Reception Kiosk that allows guests to check into or out of their rooms and change hotel reservations, as well as access airline systems to print boarding passes on the spot. The 90-day test is running at the Holiday Inn Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia, USA. Since opening in January 2004, the prototype hotel has served as a testing ground for other brand developments, including modernised signage and interior design elements, as well as eHost, the company’s new electronic menu and concierge service. The new kiosk complements the Holiday Inn “People Notice” initiative (the brand’s recruitment, training and guest service programme), and augments the service portion of the programme, allowing guests the option of bypassing the front desk if that’s their preference. Holiday Inn is collecting customer feedback from the kiosk system and will use that data to evaluate its plans for a full system implementation later in 2005. The airline access portion of the Holiday Inn kiosk is powered by Kinetics’ CheckInHere system.
